Customers
Your contact list: the people you can message on WhatsApp.
What it does
Customers is your address book. Every contact has a name, a WhatsApp number and optional details such as email, tags and custom fields. Once someone is a customer, you can message them, add them to segments and include them in automations.
You'll find it under Manage Customers → Customers.
Adding contacts
There are two ways in:
- One at a time. Click Add customer, enter the name and WhatsApp number with its country code, and save.
- In bulk. Go to Manage Customers → Import Customers to bring in many contacts at once.
Importing contacts
The import wizard accepts four sources:

| From this device | Picking contacts straight from your phone. Only the ones you select are shared. |
| Paste manually | A quick list, one contact per line: name, phone, email. |
For a spreadsheet, the steps are:
- Upload the file.
- Map your columns. We match what we can automatically; you need at least a phone or an email column.
- Review before importing. Choose what happens to people who are already in your list: Skip duplicates or Update existing (fill blanks). You can also tag everyone in this import.
- Choose whether to put the new contacts into a segment, then start the import.
When it finishes you'll see how many contacts were added, updated, skipped or failed. If any rows failed, Download error CSV shows which ones and why.
Organising contacts
- Tags label contacts (
lead,vip,trial) for quick filtering. - Custom fields hold details specific to your business, such as plan name, city or renewal date.
- Segments turn a group of contacts into a reusable audience. See the Segments guide.
Good to know
- Each phone number can exist only once, so importing the same list twice won't create duplicates.
- Keep numbers in full international format (for example
+91 98765 43210) so messages reach the right person. - Each contact's recent activity, like their last message, is kept on their record, so you can see how recently you've been in touch.
Clean, well-tagged contacts make everything else work better: segments are more accurate, broadcasts land with the right people, and automations make better decisions.
