Products & Catalog Messages
Keep your products in one list and send them as cards people can browse and order inside WhatsApp.
What it does
The Products screen holds the items you want to show on WhatsApp. Once they're synced to your Meta catalog, you can send one product card, a hand-picked list, or your whole catalog from broadcasts and workflows. Customers can open a product, add items to a cart and send the cart back to you in the chat.
Before you start: link a catalog
Products can only be sent after your WhatsApp number is linked to a Meta catalog.
- In Meta Commerce Manager, create a catalog (or use your existing one) and connect it to your WhatsApp Business Account.
- In AIM Automate, go to Setup โ Meta Catalog.
- Paste the Catalog ID next to each WhatsApp number and save.
- Look at Catalog status. "Catalog connected. Product messaging is enabled." means you're ready. Click Re-check after any change.
Until a catalog is linked you can still add products, but Sync to Meta stays greyed out and the Product option doesn't show in broadcasts.
How products get in
| Source | How |
|---|---|
| Your online store | Connect Shopify or WooCommerce under Setup โ Shopify & WooCommerce, then click Sync products now. Run it again whenever you like. |
| By hand | On the Products screen, click New product. Only name, SKU, currency and availability are required. |
The product form also covers price and sale price (with optional sale dates), availability (in stock, out of stock, preorder), condition, inventory, barcode, brand, category, colour, size, an image URL and a link to the product page. Untick Visible in catalog to keep an item out of syncs and product messages.
Syncing to Meta
A product that's new or edited here waits as a Draft until you push it to Meta. Click Sync to Meta on the Products screen to send every visible product.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | New or changed here, not on Meta yet. |
| Synced | Meta has it, so it can be sent. |
| Error | Meta refused it. Open the row menu and choose Check sync to see why. |
Check sync reads the product's review status from Meta and lists any problems. Fixable ones can be repaired with Auto-fix & re-sync; the rest need Edit manually.
Sending products
From a broadcast. Go to Send a Broadcast, open the Product tab under message content, add optional intro text, a list header and a section title, then tick your products. One product goes out as a product card; two or more go out as a scrollable product list.
With a product template. If you have an approved product template, pick it on the Template tab and a Products picker appears:
| Template type | Products to pick |
|---|---|
| Single product | Exactly one |
| Multi-product | 1 to 30, shown as one list (the first is the thumbnail) |
| Carousel | 2 to 10, one card each, in the order you tick them |
| Catalog | An optional cover product; the button opens your whole catalog |
In a workflow. Add one of these steps:
- Send Product: a single tappable product card.
- Send Product List: up to 30 products as a list the contact can scroll.
- Send full catalog (choose it from the step's Action type list): opens your whole catalog, with an optional Cover product.
Each step takes optional message text (you can include details like the contact's first name) and a footer.
Good to know
- A product message that isn't a template only reaches someone who messaged you in the last 24 hours. For everyone else, use an approved product template.
- Products tagged not on Meta or unsynced in a picker won't display for the customer until you sync them.
- The SKU is locked once a product exists, because Meta uses it to match the item.
- Deleting a product here also removes it from your Meta catalog.
- Carts customers send from your catalog show up in Reports โ Marketing โ Catalog.
Keep titles, photos and prices tidy at the source. That's exactly what a customer sees when they tap a product in WhatsApp.
