Store Integrations (Shopify & WooCommerce)
Connect your online store to sync products and send WhatsApp messages around orders.
What it does
Connecting your Shopify or WooCommerce store brings your products into AIM Automate and lets it hear about what happens in your store. You can then send products inside WhatsApp and automate messages around orders and abandoned carts.
Before you start
You'll need admin access to your store so you can create API credentials for it:
- Shopify: create an app for your store in Shopify with read access to products, orders, checkouts and fulfillments, and copy its Client ID and Client secret. If you already have an older custom app, its Admin API access token works too.
- WooCommerce: create a consumer key and consumer secret under WooCommerce โ Settings โ Advanced โ REST API.
Connecting a store
- Go to Setup โ Shopify & WooCommerce and click Connect a store.
- Choose the platform, give the connection a name, and enter your Store URL.
- Paste in the credentials from your store.
- Pick your store's currency and the WhatsApp number messages should be sent from.
- Save.
That's it. Saving subscribes AIM Automate to your store's events automatically, so there's nothing else to set up in Shopify or WooCommerce.
What you can do once connected
- Sync products so they can be sent in WhatsApp as product messages. They appear under Products in the main menu.
- Start workflows from store events:
- New store customer: welcome someone who just created an account, with a first-order code. It runs once per account, as soon as the account has a phone number, so a customer who signs up with only an email is welcomed when they add their number later.
- Checkout abandoned: remind the shopper with a link back to their checkout. It starts once per checkout, as soon as the shopper's phone number is known, and stops by itself the moment they place the order.
- Order placed: send an order confirmation. Cash-on-delivery orders are marked, so you can ask the buyer to confirm before you ship.
- Order paid: confirm the payment.
- Order shipped: share the tracking link.
- Order out for delivery: tell the customer to expect it today.
- Order delivered: confirm the delivery and invite them to reply if anything is wrong.
- Order cancelled: confirm the cancellation and explain the refund.
- Start from a ready-made journey: when you create a workflow, the gallery's Ecommerce section has one for every event above, each with a matching message template to submit for approval.
Good to know
- Place a test order to check that order events come through before you rely on them.
- A store connected before a new event was added picks it up the next time you save the store, or click Register webhooks again on its page.
- Out for delivery and Delivered come from your courier's tracking updates. On Shopify that means a shipping app or a carrier Shopify tracks; on WooCommerce, an order status plugin that adds those two statuses.
- Keep product details (titles, images, prices) tidy in your store. That's what customers see in WhatsApp.
- Each store connection has an Activity log showing recent events, which helps if something doesn't arrive as expected.
- An abandoned-cart reminder that goes out on its own is one of the easiest ways to win back sales.
A store connection ties your sales to your messaging, so the right WhatsApp message goes out at the right moment in the buying journey.
