Drip Campaigns
Send a planned series of WhatsApp messages over several days, so every new contact or segment member gets the same well-timed journey.
What it does
A drip campaign is a sequence: send a message, wait, check what the contact did, send the next one. Each contact moves through it on their own clock, starting the moment they enter. Use one to welcome new contacts, nurture a segment over a week, or chase a form that hasn't been filled in.
Drip campaigns are built in the same builder as Workflows, so every step type is available, but they get their own list and their own stats.
Where to find it
Go to Send a Broadcast and click Drip Campaigns at the top. The page shows your Total campaigns, how many are Active and how many are still Draft, and a table with each campaign's trigger, number of steps, status and latest run.
Starting from a template
- Click Templates.
- Click Preview on any template to see its trigger and a read-only outline of every step.
- Click Use this template. A draft campaign is created and opens in the workflow builder.
- Rewrite the messages in your own voice, fill in the trigger details (for example, which segment), and point any form steps and links at your real form and pages.
- Save, go back to Drip Campaigns, and choose Activate from the campaign's row menu.
| Template | Starts when | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| New Lead Follow-up | Customer created | Welcome message, wait a day, follow up if there's no reply. |
| No Reply Follow-up | Customer created | Intro message, wait 24 hours, nudge if there's no reply. |
| Form Submission Reminder | Segment entered | Send a form, wait two days, then thank or remind. |
| Segment Nurture Sequence | Segment entered | Intro on day 0, a tip on day 3, a call to action on day 7. |
| Qualified Demo Funnel | Customer created | Ask about timing, tag hot or warm leads, collect goals and a form, share a booking link. |
| Trial Onboarding Branching | Customer created | Branch by use case, share a setup guide, chase anyone who stalls. |
| Win-Back Offer Branching | Segment entered | Re-engage quiet contacts, ask about interest, collect preferences, send an offer. |
Activating, pausing and editing
- Activate starts the campaign listening for its trigger. From then on, every contact who matches (a new customer, or someone entering the chosen segment) begins the sequence. Contacts who matched before you activated it aren't added.
- If you set the trigger to Manual launch, Activate enrols every subscribed contact with a phone number in one go. Anyone already in the campaign, or who has finished it before, is skipped.
- Pause stops new contacts from joining. Contacts already partway through finish their journey.
- Edit reopens the campaign in the workflow builder.
Tracking results
Click a campaign (or choose Stats from its row menu) to see:
- Total enrolled, Active, Waiting, Completed and Failed journeys.
- Messages sent and Forms submitted.
- Drop-off by step: how many contacts are waiting, stopped or failed at each step.
- Recent journeys: each contact, their status, the step they're on, and when they started and finished.
Good to know
- Mind the 24-hour rule. Text, question, form and link steps are free-form messages, which WhatsApp only delivers within 24 hours of the contact's last message to you. A contact who has never written to you won't receive them at all. For first contact, and for messages spaced days apart, use a Send approved template step instead.
- A wait that would end just after the 24-hour window closes is shortened, so the follow-up still goes out in time.
- A segment-triggered campaign only starts people once you've picked the segment in its trigger.
- A contact can be in a drip campaign and other workflows at the same time.
Keep sequences short and useful. Three well-spaced messages that each give the contact something will outperform seven reminders.
