Snapchat Ads
Connect your Snapchat business account for campaign reporting, Customer List audiences and conversion events.
What it does
Snapchat does not offer businesses a way to send or receive chats, so there is no Snapchat inbox here or anywhere else. What Snapchat does open up is the advertising side, and that's what this integration covers:
- Campaign reporting: spend, impressions, swipe ups and purchases for your ad account, without leaving AIM Automate.
- Audiences: turn a segment of your contacts into a Snapchat Customer List audience you can target or exclude in Ads Manager.
- Conversion events: tell Snapchat when a contact converts in one of your workflows, so your ad spend gets the credit.
Before you start
You need:
- A Snapchat Business account at business.snapchat.com with at least one ad account.
- Snapchat Ads included in your plan. If you don't see Snapchat under Setup, contact support and we'll switch it on for your workspace.
You don't need any developer credentials of your own.
Connecting your account
- Go to Setup โ Snapchat โ Settings.
- Click Connect Snapchat. You're taken to Snapchat's sign-in screen.
- Sign in with an account that manages your Snapchat business and approve the request.
- Back in AIM Automate, choose the ad account you want to work with.
- Optionally paste your Snap Pixel ID (in Ads Manager, open Events Manager and select your Pixel). You only need this for conversion events.
- Save.
If access ever expires or is removed, come back and click Reconnect. Nothing else is lost.
Reading your campaign performance
Snapchat โ Overview shows the ad account's spend, impressions, swipe ups and purchases for the last 7 days (or today, or the last 30 days), plus every campaign with its status and objective. The figures come straight from Snapchat, so they match Ads Manager.
Syncing an audience
- Build a segment under Manage Customers โ Manage Segments as usual.
- Go to Snapchat โ Audiences and click Sync to Snapchat next to that segment.
- The first sync creates a matching Customer List audience in your ad account. Click Re-sync later to add new members.
- The audience then shows up in Snapchat Ads Manager, ready to target or exclude.
Email addresses and phone numbers are turned into an unreadable code before they're sent, as Snapchat requires, so Snapchat never receives the actual contact details. Contacts without a usable email or phone number are left out. Big segments take a little while to sync; you can keep working and check back on the Audiences tab.
Reporting conversions from a workflow
Add a Snapchat Event step to any workflow, for example after a purchase confirmation or a completed form:
- Event name:
PURCHASE,SIGN_UP,LEADand so on. - Value and Currency: optional, but fill in both if you want revenue reported.
If Snapchat isn't connected, or no Pixel ID is set, the step is skipped and the workflow carries on. A reporting step never stops a customer-facing flow.
Good to know
- Each workspace has one Snapchat connection and works with one ad account at a time. You can switch ad accounts from Settings whenever you like.
- Disconnecting keeps the audiences already created in Snapchat, so reconnecting picks up where you left off.
- Audience matching is never 100%. Snapchat can only match people who use the same email or phone number on Snapchat.
Use it as a loop: segment your best customers here, reach people like them on Snapchat, and send the conversions back so Snapchat learns who to show your ads to.
