Delivery Reports
Who received your message, who opened it, who didn't get it, and why.
Where to find it
Go to Reports โ Message Delivery. Pick a date range at the top and click Apply, or leave it blank to see everything.
The four numbers
| Card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | WhatsApp accepted the message and it's on its way. |
| Delivered | It arrived on the contact's phone (one grey tick becomes two grey ticks). |
| Read | The contact opened it (two blue ticks). This is your open rate. |
| Failed | It didn't get there. The reason is listed further down the page. |
The numbers build on each other, so the funnel stays honest: a message that was read also counts as delivered and sent, and delivered can never be higher than sent.
Read receipts depend on the contact's own privacy setting. Someone who has read receipts turned off shows as delivered even after reading. Treat the read rate as a minimum, not an exact figure.
By campaign
Every broadcast you send is logged as its own campaign, with the date, how many people it targeted and how many it reached. Use this table to compare two offers, two wordings or two audiences.
Very old broadcasts may not have their own row here, but they're still counted in the totals and in the segment and contact tables.
Not delivered
Failures are grouped by the reason WhatsApp gave, with a count, an example recipient and when it last happened. The usual causes:
| Reason you'll see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Number does not exist on WhatsApp | Remove the number from your list. |
| Re-engagement / outside the 24-hour window | Use an approved template instead of a free-form message. |
| Daily messaging limit reached | You've hit Meta's daily cap on new conversations. Send the rest tomorrow, or complete Business Verification to raise it. |
| Template not approved / paused | Check the template's status under Send a Broadcast โ Message Templates. |
| The contact blocked your business | Nothing to fix. Leave them out of future campaigns. |
By segment and by contact
- By segment: message volume and read rate for each saved audience. Use it to find the groups that actually engage.
- Top contacts: the people you message most. A quick check that you're not over-messaging a small handful of people.
Export CSV
Export CSV downloads everything on the screen as one spreadsheet: summary, campaigns, segments, contacts and failure reasons, each in its own labelled section. The date range you've chosen applies to the export too.
Good to know
- Statuses come in from WhatsApp as they happen, so a report run a few minutes after a send shows fewer delivered and read than the same report an hour later. Give a campaign a day before you judge it.
- A high failure rate is a warning sign for your number's quality rating. Fix the cause before the next campaign.
- Reports only ever show your own workspace's messages.
Delivered tells you the message got there. Read tells you it was worth opening. Compare read rates between campaigns and you'll learn more in a month than from any amount of guessing.
